We are recruiting for a Finance Assistant with demonstrable experience of Purchase ledger and Sales Ledger and is looking for a varied role as part of a small friendly finance team.
Finance Assistant: The Role
Our finance team are looking for a finance assistant to help with general bookkeeping and accountancy tasks. The role has potential for the candidate to take ownership of their duties, in order to grow into a core member of the finance team.
The role will also assist in general management accountancy functions to support the Group Finance Manager including balance sheet reconciliations, budgeting, costing and reporting and working with external auditors.
This is a broad role which will give the right person an invaluable grounding in business systems across the business. We will support the right person in their pursuit of relevant qualifications.
In addition to this, you will be responsible for:
Allocating cash received
Preparing payment runs
Posting bank transactions
Bank reconciliations
Processing supplier invoices
Reconciling supplier statements
Credit control
Liaising with colleagues to resolve invoice queries
Liaising with external partner company to agree weekly payment value
Sending sales ledger statements
Expenses
Ensuring data integrity between the accounting and stock control systems
Helping the finance team in their efforts to work with colleagues across the business to understand and solve issues as they arise
Other ad hoc duties as required
Our Ideal candidate
A minimum of one years’ experience as a Finance Assistant
AAT Level 2/3 or working towards
Knowledge of Xero
Knowledge of Unleashed
Attention to detail
Hands on approach
Confident to question and a desire to understand the wider systems
Excellent knowledge of Excel
Person Specification

Tenacious in their work
Personable and approachable
Happy to work both as part of a team and autonomously
