Job description:

Engineer / Design & Manufacturing  

£29k to £34k per annum

This is a permanent position

To assist in the introduction of new products into the manufacturing system, leading capital equipment projects from concept to installation and dealing with the day to day production activities which require engineering involvement. Other duties include using CAD/CAM packages to create a best practise approach for the production of bespoke shower enclosures.

This position would suit a time served engineer with a background in new product introduction within an precision assembly environment.  

 Key Responsibilities:

To support the Company’s machining activity as determined by the programme, including:

1. Working as an individual, setting own priorities on a day to day basis or, as part of a project team, undertaking defined tasks to deliver specified product.

2. Definition of design solutions using tools available including 2D / 3D CAD, Pro-Engineer is desirable but not essential as training may be provided.

3. Using engineering drawings to check and reference machining strategies and programs

4. Creating 3 & 5 axis machining programs from templates and CAD geometry (desirable but not essential)

5. Defining bill of materials for bespoke products

6. Adopting best practice techniques to ensure the safe efficient assembly of production is adopted

7. Liaising with customers, sales teams and purchasing to ensure all elements of bespoke manufacturing are considered.

8. Attending daily production meetings to effectively manage key manufacturing issues on a daily basis

9. Assist in the specification of new capital equipment and the installation into a busy  production environment

10. Working within the guidelines of Departmental and Company: Policies, Procedures and Work Instructions.

11. Evolution of Policies, Procedures, Work Instructions and specific guidance documents.

 Person Specification:

An Engineer with the aptitude for product design and tooling strategy.  Preferably with relevant experience within an environment encompassing some or all of the following aspects:

• Heavy Machining of Large Tooling

• Design and manufacture of large tools and shower enclosures

• Plastic Vacuum Forming, Resin Cast Moulding and General Assembly Routines using CNC machinery

• Delcam Power Mill 2014, 2D and 3D CAD Preferably Pro Engineer (Creo), SAP MRP system

• Multi disciplinary team working

• Working within a lean manufacturing environment using Six Sigma tools and techniques to effectively manage improvement activities
